TELEAGATHY.
Sir, —I much lear that scoffers and other wicked people, like determimsts, might use the word suggested by Rev. J. C. bussed as a confirmation of the view that anything good (agathon) was tar away (tele) from the purpose of creation. Telos, end, is a very different word from tele; and I teleology, being derived from telos, should be te.oiogy; therefore, if agathon is to stand, let the word be Telagathy, which means a good end or object., ; • As to Mr. Moreton Barnes's inquiry, the New Zealand Institute is constituted for the furtherance of scientific research; but 1 doubt if it could undertake the philanthropic task of assisting needy inventors. But there is plenty of money available in Auckland business centres for the exploitation of any patent promising good financial results. . .:■, ■ .. <■■-,-. W.M.N.
