OFFER TO MR. R. SPEIGHT.

[BT TELEGRAPH.PRESS association.] Chuistchurch, Saturday. Mr. Robert Si-eight, assistant curator of the Canterbury Museum, has been offered the position of geologist to Dr. Mawson's expedition, and the leadership of a party which would have Macquarrie Island as one of its bases. Mr. Speight will probably have to decline the offer, but says ho will be glad to spend some months on" the Macquarrie Islands next summer, if arrangements for transport can be made.
