GRADE CHAMPIONSHIPS. UNIVERSITY JUST WINS. Bright weather favoured tho continuation of the competitions in the hockey championships on Saturday afternoon. Tho grounds were all in good order, and the play was of an interesting character. Of the. .three matches in the men's senior grade championship, the contest between Auckland and University at Rcmuera attracted chief interest, and tho forecast that of the two unbeaten teams University would prove slightly superior, was approved by the. result, Auckland being beaten by a single goal. Ponsonby beat North Shore at the Devonport Domain by 4 goals to 2, and I'arnell, playing against, Christchurch at the Domain, secured a win by 6 goals to 2. United had a bye. SENIOR GRADE. CHAMPIONS IN BATTLE. A big gathering of spectators watched the match between Auckland and University, which afforded a display of scientific hockey, and was not lacking in excitement. The play was fast, throughout, and the. ultimate score presents li very fair measure of the respective merits of the two combinations. LADIES' MATCHES. SENIOR GRADE. Ao-tea-roa and Arawa drew, each side, scoring two goals. For the former team Miss do Launay scored both goals, while for the latter Miss Probert scored twice. SECOND GRADE. Training College beat Kopana by 3 goals to nil. Tho scorers were Miss Davics (2) and Miss Wylio. Unitarian beat Ao-tea-roa by 1 goal to nil. Miss Blundcn scored. Tui played a drawn game with Martino, neither side scoring. THAMES MATCHES. [BT TELEGRAPH.-OWN CORRESPONDENT.] THAMES, Sunday. In the match played on Saturday between Thames and Cricketers' Clubs a hard game resulted in a draw, each side scoring three goals. The ladies' match between the St. George's and Ngatimara Clubs also resulted in a draw, while the High School Club defeated Waiokaraka by 5 goals to nil. HAMILTON LADIES' MATCHES. [BY TELEGRAPH.— OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Hamilton, Saturday. The ladies' cup match resulted in a win for Reds by 2 goals to 1. This gives Reds the holding of the cup for another year, they having won the first two matches, and although another match lias to bo played, it cannot affect the result. Frankton beat W.Y.M.I. by 6 goals to 2, Kiakiha beat Nomads by 6 goals to 2, and Morrinsville beat Hamilton by 2 goals to 1.
