London, December 31. The Lisbon correspondent :of the Times states that absolute tranquility prevails in .Portugal. 'u-t ;
Router's Agency states . that the Foreign Office has not . received any indication of tnere being a critical situation in Portugal, nor a request for the despatch of a warship.
Inquiries in Portuguese circles in London do not confirm the conspiracy, and an important -Royalist movement is doubted., ,
It is generally admitted that the public services are disorganised; and that the discipline of the army is unsatisfactory. "
The behaviour, of the public has deteriorated, and many labour disputes have interfered with certain manufactures.
The Portuguese Minister for Finance recommends that ex-King Manuel be allowed the revenues from the Braganza properties, pending the liquidation of the State advances to the Royal.. Family.
In consequence of Germany's pro : tests the Government has withdrawn the decree with respect to the payment of Customs d ities in gold, substituting a law that gold payments shall be made in respect to certain goods. • ;
