CHRISTMAS GIFTS.

THifNew York Post Office, excluding Brooklyn, issued European money orders aggregating £1,540,000, representing Christmas gifts to European relatives of' Americans, an increase of £459,000 over 1908. It is estimated that £12,000,000 of foreign money orders in connection with Christmas were issued throughout the United States. , Bonuses given to the staffs of financial houses also indicate present prosperity.
