An analysis of the balance-sheet? of a hundred typical Lancashire -Itils, containing 8,000,000 spindles, shows a loss of £272,072, or 8 per cent., for the year. Nevertheless the dividends average 7£ per cent. This is possible because the companies wrote their stocks down to nominal figures during boom years.
