INTER-CLUB MATCHES.

The opening round of intcr-club m;

was played on Saturday afternoon. In tho first grade West End defeated Parnoll after a very even contest. Eden and Epsom had an easy win over Auckland. The only match in tho second grade was botween Remuera and Onehunga, the former team winning by a small margin.

The following are the results: —

FIRST GRADE.

WEST END V. PARNELL.

A Men's Doubles: Grigson and Mowbray (P.) beat Upton and Morpeth (W.E.), 6—4, 3—6, 7-5. .

A Combined Doubles: Dr. Keith and Mrs. Earlo (W.E.) beat Simpson and Miss Cooper (P.), 6—3, 6—o, 6-2.

A Ladies' Doubles: Misses Cooke and Walker (P.) beat Misses A. Gray and Holland (W.E.), 6—l, o—6, 6—l.

B Men's Doubles: Hickson and Paterson (W.E.) beat Pavitt and Kissling (P.), 6—o, 6—2, 5-6.

B Combined Doubles: A. Goldie and Mrs. Manning (W.E.) beat Henderson and Mrs. Martin (P.), 6—3, 6—2, 6—3.

B Ladies' Doubles: Misses M. Frater and Steele (P.) beat Misses Footo and Patterson (W.E.), 6—4, 6—l, 6—5.

West End won by 10 sets to eight.

AUCKLAND ASSOCIATION.

A meeting of the Managing Committee of the Auckland Lawn Tennis Association was held on Friday evening last. Miss A. Gray and Mrs. Cooper were nominated for places in the New Zealand ladies' team to meet the New South Wales ladies' team in January next. Messrs. Cooke, Goldie, and Stewart were appointed a sub-committee to purchase trophies for the forthcoming New Zealand championship tournament. It was decided to accept the New Zealand Association's offer of half the profits of the New Zealand v New South Wales ladies' match and of the Auckland v. New South Wales ladies' match. January 5 was the date &X&-1 for the last-named match.

Paekoa, Saturday. The bowling tournament for the Goldfields challenge stars that was to have been held at Karangahake this afternoon was abandoned on account of the heavy rain last night.

The Thames Bowling Club has abandoned the customary formal opening day, and will be pleased to meet their friends and visitors from other clubs at an "At Home" on Thursday, November 25. The invitations issued for the original opening fixed for November 4 will be available for the "At Home."

BOXING.

WANGANUI TOURNAMENT.

[BY telegraph.press association;] Wanganui, Sunday. The Wanganui Boxing , Association's; tournament was concluded on Saturday night in the presence of a good attendance. The results of the semi-finals are Novice light-weight: Whaler (Taihape) beat Bullock (Wanganui), who was. disqualified. Middle-weight: Gale (Bunnythorpe) beat Ireland (Waipawa)- Welter-weight: Hogan (Wanganui) beat Williams (Kai Iwi); Turner (Wellington) beat ' Johnson (Wanganui). The finals resulted : Light-weight championship : Porter (Wellington) beat Clarke (Palmerston . North). . Bantam-weight: Kutner (Wellington) beat Cook (Napier).' Middleweight : Devitt beat Gale, who went; into the ring with both thumbs damaged. Wel-ter-weight : Hogan boat Turner, who was disqualified for fouling. W. Wennand was declared to be the most scientific ; boxer, and secured the special prize.
