AUCKLAND HARBOUR BOARD.

A meeting of tho Auckland Harbour Board was held yesterday afternoon, there being present: The Hon. E. Mitchelson (chairman), Messrs. A. J. Entriean, G. W. Basley, W. J. Napier, H. J. Bradney, J. K. Kneen, H. M. Smeeton, J. H. Gunson, A. peyes, J. B. Macfarlane, H. D. Heather, and' Captain G. McKenzie. • - ■'v'";"■.'■.'.

Floating Dock: The New Zealand Shipowners' Federation wrote, asking the Board to set. apart a site for a floating dock 200 ft long, and capable of accommodating vessels up to 800 tons. The request was referred to the Board in committee. '~

Oil Cargoes: A letter was received from the Northern Roller Mills and others, protesting against the berthing of vessels . with oil at the Quay-street jetties. The matter was referred to the Board in committee.

Removal of a Wharf: An application from Mr. G. Clifton for the removal of the wharf at Harkins' Point was granted, i ' The Kuaka: The harbourmaster (Captain Duder) write recommending that the launch' Kuaka be laid up. The work now done by the Kuaka, he said, could bo performed either by the Te Awhina or the Ferro, and a great saving would result. He recommended a trial of his suggestion for six or 12 months.. Devonporfc Wharf: A petition presented by Mr.. Napier, asking for the resumption of the ferry service to the Devonporfc Wharf was referred to the Board in committee. '

Committee Recommendations: All the recommendations from the last meeting of the Board in committee were adopted. By-laws: It was resolved to hold a special meeting of the Board in committee on Tuesday evening next, to consider the revised bylaws. . : ,
