I The local fruit and produce markets have again been very dull during the week, and no improvement on last week's 'rates can be reported. Potatoes still continue to come forward in heavy supply, and sales have been difficult 'to effect. Onions were very slow of sale. Green vegetables sold at fair rates, while swedes, pumpkins, and marrows were almost unsalable. In dairy produce the butter market was unchanged, while eggs suffered a drop in price. The fruit markets were heavily stocked and the severe weather had a. serious detrimental effect on prices. Moderate ehipmnts of fruit from Sydney were landed in good order, while an excessive cargo of oranges and bananas was landed in a more or • less bad state. Heavy consignments of local apples were quitted at lower prices, i Poultry was in fair supply to strong competition and high prices. Messrs. Dalgety and Co., Limited, Auckland, have received the following cablegram from their London office under date the Bth inst., dealing with the frozen meat market:—Beef: Prices are £d lower since our last wire owing; to a larger supply of chilled beef. There is a fair demand for light mutton and prices are rather dearer. Quotations for New Zealand prime crossbred mutton Canterbury, heavy, the same as last week, viz., 2Jd; North Island, heavy, also the same as last week, viz., 2d. Lamb: Weak and tending wards. New Zealand prime crossbred—Canterbury, light 4d, heavy 3j|d; North Island, light 3jjd; other descriptions, 3d to 33d ; medium prime crossbred Canterbury lamb, 3£d per lb; secondary qualities, :s£d. Frozen mutton and lamb: Supplies are in excess of requirements. The discharge of vessels is delayed and the stores are full. ■' . ■ Rabbitskins, lid to 2d per lb higher. Bales to the number of 1230 were offered and practically all sold.
