Anothbe exceptionally large volume of business was done on the sharemarket yesterday, mainly in mining stocks. Waiotahis were again the chief centre of interest, although there was no further news from the mine. There were heavy sales at from 7s 9d to 7s lid to 7s 9d to 7s lid to 7s 9d to 7s lOd up to the end of the second call, after which there was a firmer tendency, parcels changing hands at the last call at from 7s lOcl to 8s sd. 'Sellers closed at 8s 6d, and buyers at 8s 4d. Other Thames stocks were freely dealt in. Bonanzas (contributing) sold at 7d; Dixon's Consolidateds at from Hid to Is 2d to IS Id to is 2d; Halcyons at s£d and sd; Kuranuis at Is 6d and Is 7d;

There were also sales in Ngatiaw&s at 4d, and Bcridigos at 9d. In Upper Thames lines Waihis were done at £9 6s, with further sellers at that price, and buyers at £9 ss. Talismans sold at 55s to 54s 9d to 559 3d, with more in demand at 555, and sellers asking 55s 3d. Waihi Consolidateds changed hands at from 4s lOd to 4s 7d, and Waihi Beaches at lOd and 9£d. Waihi Grand Junctions were rather firmer, selling at from 46s 9d to 46s 6d to 475, with closing sellers at 475, and buyers at 46s 9d. Taupiri Coals changed hands at 20s 6d; Northern Steams at 12s lOd (mid uo), and 6s 2d (contributing); and D.SC.'s at 3s 8d and 3s 9d. PROPERTY SALES. • An auction sale of country properties wag held yesterday afternoon by the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, at their Durham-street yards, when four sections comprising 13 acres 1 rood 20 perches in the township of Panmure sold for £100 an acre. There was a large attendance at the auction rooms of Messrs. T. Mandeno Jackson, Customstreet Bast, yesterday afternoon, when a farm of 160 acres, part of the Ttaupo Swamp, Northern Wairoa, was sold, after brisk bidding, for £10 per ; acre. A four-roomed cottage and shop standing on a section 50ft by 120 ft at the corner of View Road and Victoria Avenue, Mount Eden, was also submitted. Ridding started at £500, and the property was eventually said for £750.
