THE FIRE BRIGADES.

NEXT WEEK'S DEMONSTRATION. The members of the various fire brigades who intend to compete at the United Fire Brigades' Association's demonstration at the Domain next week, and the delegates appointed to attend the annual conference, are beginning to arrive, and already numerous men in uniform may be seen in the streets. Yesterday a large number of brigademen were practising at the Devonport Domain, the water service being placed at their disposal. The whole of the men and delegates, representing about 100 brigades, are expected to be in Auckland before Sunday, when a united church parade will be held. ■*

The conference will extend over Monday and Tuesday, the competitions of the " fire-fighters" commencing on Wed nesday, and being continued on Friday and Saturday. Thursday will bo devoted to a water excursion.
