CHURCH SALE OF WORK.

A sals of work, organised by the officers and congregation of the . Mount Eden Congregational Church, -was opened yesterday afternoon in the Sunday-school, by the Rev. Henry Steele Craik, pastor of the Beresford-street Church. The Rev. W. Day, pastor of the Mount Eden Church* also assisted in the opening ceremony. The schoolroom was tastefully decorated, and the stalls filled to overflowing with goods. Numerous side *hows were also provided, and excellent business was done all round. ; The stalls were presided over by the following Sweet stall, the girls of the Bible class; fancy work stall, Mesdames Lovett, Melville, and s Brown ; plain work stall, MesdanMs Day, Ball, Smailes, and Gow; pound still, Masters Bridgens, Gow, Gumroer and Day Sunday-school stall, Misses Hudson, Melville, Rimmer, Hawkins, and Woodward; fish pond, Miss Moore; flower stall, i"- A. G. Lee kiosk- Misses Ball, Gummer, Leßailly, Houghton, and others. A number of competitions (nail'dnving, woolwinding, whistling and skipping), were held last evening. The sale of work will be continued this afternoon tad evening. _ A musical programme will be one of this evening's attractions.
