ENTERTAINMENTS.
HIS MAJESTY'S THEATRE. "Tub Earl and the Girl" was repeated by the Anderson-Sheridan Company to a. large audience at His Majesty's Theatre last evening, and again met with an enthusiastic reception. The piece will be produced again this evening, and on Friday night will be replaced by the old favourite " Fun on the Bristol," in which Mr. Sheridan has impersonated the character of the Widow O'Brien over 6000 times. In this characterisation he is seen at his best.
OPERA HOUSE. A large holiday audience assembled last night to witness the entertainment provided by the World's Pictures Syndicate. ' The wide-world pictures, as their name implies, are cosmopolitan in character, and comprise a varied assortment of the latest films. As usual, the picture entitled " Willie's Magic Wand " was responsible for much hilarity. "Farmyard Friends" depicted some interesting scenes in animal life on a farm. "The Transformation of a Horse "was a purely comio study, showing how a horse, whose owner has looked on the wine when it was red, 13 changed, by gradual stages, into a twig. "The Vestal'' was a study full of realistic and dramatic effects. "Scenes in Cornwall" proved to be a beautiful series of views of the southern county, the surf effects being particularly good. " College Chums" was a film of the comic order, and is undoubtedly one of the best of its class ever shown here. Other interesting pictures are "A Father's Lesson," "The Champagne Industry," "The Mummy," "The Owl," "The Egg," "The Little Cripple." " The Adventures of an Overcoat," " The Hunchback Brings Luck," "Many Ways of Smuggling," and "Billy's on Fire." The more pleasing feature of these pictures is the almost entire absence of the flicker, which is so trying to the eyes. ■■••'••■

The company will open in Auckland at His Majesty's Theatre on Monday night, with the military drama, "Her Love Against the World."
