TEE GOVERNOR.
Yesterday Their Excellencies Lord and Lady Plunket attended the race,*, and will also attend Saturday's racing.
Yesterday His Excellency gave a final sitting to Mr. Horace Moore-Jones, who has been engaged on a pastel portrait of' the Governor.
Last evening Their Excellencies gave a, dinner party, the following receiving invitations:—Professor and Mrs. Segar, Mr. and Mrs. O'Rorkc, Mr. and Mrs. E. Horton, Mr. and Mrs. Goring Johnson, Mr., Mrs., and Miss Bagnall, Captain and Mrs. Boscawen, Miss Thompson. Mis.-, Browning, Commander Miller, R.N., Mr. J. Williamson, Mr. J. B. Williamson. In addition to Their Excellencies the following members of the house party were present:—Mr. and Mrs. Waterfield, Hon. K. Plunket, Captain Hon. N. Gafnorne Hardy and Captain Lyon, A DCs.
Their Excellencies leave Auckland on th.- 9th hist., and proceed to Napier, where they will attend the opening day's racing on the 17th inst. at Hastings. At Napier on the 11 ill inst. Their Excellencies will attend a meeting in aid of the Society for Promotion of Health of Women and Children.
The Governor and Lady l'lunket will attend a Band of Hope meeting at th« Royal Albert Hall this evening, and in the afternoon will pay a visit to the Mater Misericord iae Hospital.
Lady Plunket visits the Costley Home to-morrow, and in the evening attends a Mothers' Union meeting at St. Paul':, Church rooms.
