PAPAKURA S.M. COURT.
The monthly sitting of the Papaktira S.M. Court was held oil the Bth and 9th insfc., Mr. H. W. Northcroft, S.M., presiding. . George Hopkins was charged .with cruelty to a horse by allowing it to remain lying in a ditch at Manurewa for three days without . 'supplying it with sufficient food and water, not taking proper steps to have the animal removed out of the ditch, thereby causing ■• its death, and with neglecting to bury the % animal after death. He was convicted on both charges, being fined £5, and costs £3 16s on the first one. and for neglecting to 'L bury the animal a fine of £2, and costs £3 ; 15s, was inflicted. Mr. Cave appeared for . the defendant. ; Vv. Lewis White, of Hunua, charged Charles Rhodes and Charles Creighton, also of Hunua, with rescuing 17 sheep, seized by the informant for the purpose of being imllpounded. A number of witnesses gave evidence, and the magistrate reserved his decision. Mr. Sharpies appeared for the informant, and Mr. Prendergast for the defendants, John Otto was fined ss, and £1 8s costs, "c for allowing a horse to trespass on the railsi., way line. Civil Casts: Wm. Walters v. Jno. Lynch, £ claim £19 "As 6d, judgment by default for amount claimed, with* costs £1 18s; Wm. McLeod v. Harry Deery, claim £6 Bs, judgment for defendant, each party to pay Ins own costs. ij; In the case Wm. Prolinsky v. J. C. Moore, ' ;claim £11, there was also a counter-claim for £3 6s 7d. Judgment was given for defendant, with costs £3 7s 7d. Mr, Cave appeared for the defendant. •
