TOURIST DROWNED AT ROTORUA.

Rotortta, Wednesday. A distressing drowning accident occurred shortly before noon to-day, when a middleaged tourist, named Patrick McGowan, lost his life in the - Lobster Bath, on Pukeroa Reserve.
Deceased and a man named Frank Lush were bathing. The former got out of his depth. and being unable to swim, Lush asked him to put his hand? round the back of his neck, Lush then .striking out for the bank. Prior to reaching the shore McGowan let go "his hold, sank, and never rose again. It is surmised that he was overcome with sulphur fumes. Lush went for assistance, and eventually the police recovered the body, which was conveyed to the morgue.
The Lobster Bath, which is a very warm one, is notoriously dangerous, several accidents having occurred there before.
