THE GREAT NORTHERN MEETING. The fact that the horses that competed at Wanganui with engagements at Elleralie were prevented from being shipped at New Plymouth on Saturday owing to the bad weather prevailing has thrown a bit of a damper for • the time being on the Great Northern Hurdle Race and Great Northern j Steeplechase, . and, several': rumours - "s being rife as to certain horses having injured! themselves while racing at Wanganui that] circumstance has, of course, played its part in the confusion of ideas. As the Rarawa was able to proceed to New Plymouth yes-1 terday morning it may be expected that the horses will arrive at Ellerslie during to-day, and reliable facta will probably then be forthcoming as to the correctness or otherwise of the statements in circulation. ' i It transpires that Narcissus broke his neck when he fell in contesting the Wanganui Steeplechase. The combination of Mahoo and Irish is still the shortest-priced double in the Great Northerns, 20 to 1 being the quotation. ,^. Bonomiana is to be offered by auction by Messrs. A. Tooman and Co. to-morrow at I half-past twelve p.m. The Soulare has j several engagements at the Great' Northern [meeting. : ':■,: : . ■['■■■ y,':■.:.:.,■' ,
