AN UNUSUAL APPLICATION.

[lit TKI.KGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION*.]

Napier, Friday. At the Assessment Court to-day a case was heard in which Mr. G. P. Donnelly, part owner of the Waimakama. Wnipuka, and Okaihau Blocks, objected to the Government valuation as being too low. The application involves a curious, if not an unprecedented, position. It appears that two valuations were, made by the Government oliicials, one averaging a little over £90 an acre, and the other about £70. In view of the fact that if the land is required by the Government for settlement purposes they have to pay full Government' value, the owners submit that the land should not, be undervalued, and, therefore seel; to have the higher valuation of £90 sustained.
