VOLUNTEERING NEWS.
AKAKANA RIFLE CLUB. The members of the Akarana Rifle Club fired two trophy matches on Saturday afternoon on the. club's range at Penrose. There, was a good attendance, and some splendid .-hooting resulted, Mr. C. Simpson compiling the possible at 500 yds, and Mr. A. C. Watson one point less. The A class members fired for Mr. J. Adams' trophy. Mr. C. Simpson winning it outright, and beating Mr. A. C. Watson by four points. The li class members tired for a trophy presented by Mr. J. Adams, anil the scores also counted for an aggregate trophy presented by Mr. J. Stephenson. Mr. J. Vincent won the former outright, and leads for the latter trophy, compiling the splendid score of 91. Mr. H. Langley was second. Below are the- details of the four highest, scores: — A Class.: Mr. C. Simpson, 46 at 200 yds, 50 at SOOvds, total 96: Mr. A. C. Watson. 43. 49—92; Mr. S. Coubon, 47, 43-90; Mr. J. Carlson, 45, 43—83. B. Class,: Mr. .1 Vincent, 45 at 200vds, 46 at 500vds, total 91: Mr. H. Langlev, 39, 43—82; Mr. J. Mcintosh, 32, 36—68: Mr. Baird, 29, 24—53.
