MANY HOUSES DAMAGED. By Telegraph.—Press Association.—Copyright (Received September IS, 10.16 p.m.) Rome, September 18. Earthquakes occurred yesterday in the province of Palermo, Sicily. The ■walls of many houses were cracked. The shock was especially severe at Termini Imeresc, 20 miles from the city of Palermo, and there was a great panic. The volcano Stromboli, in the Lipari Islands, is active. Stromboli was very active in April of last year, at about the tirao that severe earthquakes were experienced in Switzerland and France. Usually the volcano emits only steam, but on that occasion stone was ejected. The volcano is on one of the Lipari Islands, and more than 100 miles from Palermo. An earthquake was reported from Palermo last week.
