WAITEMATA COUNTY COUNCIL
The monthly meeting or the Waitemata County Council was held yesterday. There were present: Messrs. J. If. O'Neill (chairman), A. J. Hatfield. V. F. Kerr-Taylor, H. H. Adams. T. Horton. H. MeLeod, F. Dye, H. Cadness, and A: Cochran. : - ' Tenders: Tenders were accepted as follows: --Seven chains formation and metalling near Waitake: bridge, J. S. King, £14 ss; 40 chains formation and repairs to stringer bridge-, Kaukapakapa, John Hawkes, £33:18s: 10 chains formation of road across gully at WainutSouth, J. S. King, £48 : 15s; concrete culvert at New Lynn, R. A. Andrews, £316 8s8d; construction of portion of Otakauiwi deviation, A. MeLeod, £185.
Whangaparoa Wharf: * In response to a complaint. Ash ford litter provided by the, St. John Ambulance Association. - . ! Faysheet: Accounts amounting to £14-63 13s 4d were passed for payment. '' Whangaparoa District':;. A special/;order was passed merging the' Whangaparoa Road Board into the Whangaparoa district. Heavy Traffic: A special order was passed prohibiting * heavy traffic on the county roads between the 'months of May and October iii-each year. One of the .classes defined was, bullock traffic. Dog Collars: A ratepayer of Horseshoe Bush complained that dogs had been killing sheep in the district. The dogs were said to have been registered, but their collars were not on them. . It was resolved that collars must be worn by all registered dog 3, otherwise they; would be treated as not registered. ' " " '. New Takapuua Road: It was decided to accept the dedication of a, road in a sub.division of. Mr. Kirk's property at Milford Beach, Takapuua. i. Wade Wharf: In reply to a request from Mr. M.G. McGregor, it was decided not to repair the piles of the goods shed below the Wade Wharf. .It was stated the sheds .were, .on private property. ■', .'...■.- •" Korthcoto Pound: It was agreed that tenders be called for the lease annually of the Kortheote pound reserve. ■ ■Government Grant: A communication was received from the Chief Engineer of Rbads stating that a grant, for the WainuiKaukapakapa Road had been given to the Council in response, to its? representations. / Telephone for River head: The Telegraph Department, stated they, would construct and maintain a telephone line to Riverhead for £8 17a per annum for five years. The Council decided to accept the terms. _' Archlnll Road Deviation: Application was made by the Grey Lynn Borough Council for a'contribution towards- the cost of making the- Archhill Road deviation. The- Council declined to contribute. It was stated that the -Main North Road was the only necessary thoroughfare from Auckland for the Waiteniata county, and that the county would not benefit by the proposed deviation. ','.'■.'. ■ ':" _ Road Formation: It was decided that five chains of the road passing Mr. Hawke's property at Wainui should be formed.
