MEETINGS.
LIBERAL AND LABOUR FEDERATION. ONEHUNGA BRANCH. Tub Onehunga branch ,of the. Liberal and Labour Federation held its monthly general meeting at : - the Public ■ Hall on Thursday evening. : Mr. T. Crisp presided, and the attendance was the largest since the inception of the .branch. Twenty-eight, candidates were balloted for ■and accepted as members, while ',- 21 others were proposed. A resolution was carried, in favour of the appointment of a committee of inquiry, to consider the hona-fides of 2candidates for membership. After a long discussion, it was agreed to . select candidates for the school committee election, also ■ a candidate Tor the Mayoralty. In connection with the latter contest, it was unanimously agreed to support the candidature of Mr. John Rowe. ' - , ' _ ..'-.". "" ONEHUNGA SCHOOL COMMITTEE. The monthly meeting of the Onehunga, School Committee was held at the High School on Thursday evening. J.Here were present: Messrs. Edwin Hall (chairman), S. Barr. H. J. Blackwood, G. H. James. .}. Robins, A. J. Laurie, J. J. Russell, and S. J. Brooktield (secretary). . The Education Board wrote stating that the piece of ground offered by Mr. P. McKenzie had been purchased by them, and would be added to the playground. The headmaster wrote suggesting that the Public Hail be hired for two months, pending the enlargement of the infant school. It was decided to communicate with the Education Board re the matter. A toll number of 620, with an average attendance of 550.5, was reported for the' primary school, and 76 for the secondary department, A letter was received front the Borough Council, complaining of the annoyance caused to residents of Arthur-street owing to the overflow of water from the school grounds. The letter was received, and ordered to, be forwarded to the Board of Education. Accounts amounting to £12 15s lOd were' passed fot payment, and a, credit balance of £40 15s lid was announced. .. ,- SALE OF WORK. The Mount Eden' Congregational Church bazaar and sale of work/ which was opened on Wednesday afternoon, was brought to a ■ close last night. , The takings for the first : two days: amounted to about£loo, and it is expected that this sum will be greatly increased by the addition of last nights proceeds. Nail-driving and other competitions took place last evening, and caused a considerable amount of amusement. Ah. enjoyable musical programme was also rendered.' ' . :.: "• -
