DARING DAYLIGHT BURGLARIES.
AN ARREST MADE. [BY TELEGRAPH. —KRESS ASSOCIATION.] Dinedin, Thursday. Two daring daylight burglaries were carried out on Wednesday. The premises of Mr. E. H. Lough, at St. Clair, were broken into during the absence of Mrs. Lough, and a. quantity of jewellery stolen. Later on the house of Mr. John Stewart, in the city, was entered, and a watch and chain stolen. This afternoon Acting-Detective McLeod arrested a man' 1 giving the name of Frank Heine when in the act of attempting to sell some broken-up jewellery. Mr. Stewart's watch and the gold mountings of an albert chain were found on him. Heme, who is about 26 years of age, says he recently came from America. He arrived here by the Maheno on Tuesday, and had a steerage ticket on him for Lyttelton.
