ODDFELLOWS' WATER EXCURSION.

An* exceedingly enjoyable and successful water excursion was tendered on Saturday afternoon by the Auckland Oddfellows (.Manchester Unity) to their brethren who visited Auckland last week in connection with the Movable Committee's second biennial meeting. Tho p. Osproy was chartered for the occasion, find about 200 people, which was more than the number expected, left town iu her. The Osprcy first shaped her way over to the Calliope Dock, from there to Kohimararaa, and thence to Lake Takapuna, where she stayed for half-au-hour so as to give the excursionists an opportunity of seeing and admiring the lake. Leaving Takapuna the Osprey, wliilo keeping on the outside of Kangitoto, made for Home Bay, Motutapu. On arrivin;; there at a-quarter to five the visitors were heartily welcomed by Brother .lames Reid, a member of the order, who kindly placed his grounds at the disposal of the excursionists. After a three-quarters of an hour's sojourn here the party sailed for home, having, before leaving, passed a hearty vote of thanks to Air. Hold for his kindness. The trip back was delightfully cool, and a good many of the party look the opportunity of indulging in dancing on deck to capital music supplied by Meredith's string band. Refreshment' wor* partaken of during the afternoon, .Mr. .1. W. Nairn looking after the catering. A pleasant little function took place on board the Osprey during the excursion, Grand Master D, P. Lous by, on behalf of the visiting Oddfellows, presenting Mesdames John JVleLeod and John Clark with suitably-inscribed gold brooches, as a small token of their appreciation of the many kindnesses received at. the hands of their respective husbands during their stay in Auckland. Brothers MoLeod and Clark suitably replied.
