BAND CONTEST.
[bx telegraph.— association.] Timarit, Saturday. The second of the test selections resulted: —First prize, £100, Wanganui Garrison, 490 points ; second prize, £50, Kaikorai, 431 points; third prize, £25, Timaru, 422 points ; fourth prize, £10, Lyttelton Marine, 421 points. Other numbers were: W.oolstoa, 416; Dunedin avals, 415 ; Oamaru Garrison, 389 ; Oamaru Citizens, 296 ; Waimate, 290. At a meeting of the representatives of bands at present at the contest, held this morning, it was resolved that it was desirable that a South Island Brass Bands' Association be formed. Messrs. Siddall and Virtue (Woolston) were appointed chairman and secretary pro tern., to draw up a circular to the bands, and arrange for the first meeting of delegates at Dunedin on a date to be fixed. If the association is successfully formed it is suggested that it should affiliate with the North Island Association.
