Thk adjourned ordinary meeting of the Auckland Hospital and Charitable Aid Board was | held at tho hospital yesterday afternoon, | there being present: Messrs. G. J. Garland (chairman), J. McLeod, J. Infectious Diseases: The City Council wrote in reference to the proposed exchange of sites in connection with the proposed ereotion «* a hospital for minor infectious diseases in ..the Domain, and stated the terms agreed upon (as already published) between the conference of representatives of the two boiiies. -The correspondence was- received, and the action already taken was approved. The secretary stated that t return, comprising 52 pages of foolscap, in reference to the statistics of infectious diseases, had been forwarded to Mr. Stembridge, chairman of the meeting of publio bodies lately held at Pukekohe. The Nursing Staff: The honorary medical ttatf reported that the following muses had "passed lhe half-yearly examinations:—First { year . probationers Evelyn'Metoali,. Emma : Alartyn, Mary B. A Complaint: Sister Hannah, of the Miclion of the Good Shepherd, wrote statin;; that on telephoning to the Board's office recently a request for a medical man to attend a sick child in Freeman's Bay (whose father was drinking), she .waa informed that the father himself must make an application at the office. Subsequently she got the Board's medical officer to attend the child, arid as it was suffering from an infectious disease it wa« sent to the • hospital. It was resolved to request the relieving officer to report on . 4he matter of the first application for the doctor's attendance ¥."---*\-, ,'. The Laboratory: Dr. Frost, honorary bacteriologist at the hospital,-wrote in reference to thi) inadequacy of the present equipment of the laboratory, which,, she eaid, .was insufficient for carrying out bacteriological and pathological work of the simplest kinds. Dr. „ Collins, senior medical -officer; said the appliances asked for by.Dr. Frost were necessary. The letter was referred to the chairman and the senior medical officer, with power to act. Operating Theatre, Etc.: The hon. medical staff wrote, asking that the refitting of the operating theatre with the new sterilising plant be carried out, and also asking for new equipment for the main surgical ward, and t the opthalmio and medical departments.
