During the month of January last the supply of meat at the London markets amounted to 35,116 tons, as against 39,001 tons received in the corresponding month of last year. Oi that quantity 10,560 tons came from the country, 3694- from town, 7044- from the Continent, 8526 from America, and 5292 from Australia and New Zealand. The principal falling off was in American and colonial meat. At the Metropolitan Cattle Market, Islington, 9224 oxen, 46,383 sheep, 65 calves, and 248 pigs arrived; and at the Foreign Cattle Market, Deptford. 7201 oxen and 423 sheep were landed from the United States. There was a falling off of over 3000 American oxen and 14,000 sheep, as compared with the return in January, 1902. . The offer of prizes by the^ Royal Agricultural Society of England-£SO and £20brought together no less' than twenty-one windmills, the trials taking place at the society's new permanent showyards neaJ London. The trials were to be continued at the discretion of the judges until the end of April. The windmills were from all parts of Great Britain. ...
