THE POLICE AND. THE MOB. FATAL ENCOUNTERS. By Telegraph.— Association.—Copyright. Madrid, April 5. There is great excitement in Madrid. Students and workmen with revolvers and hunting guns paraded the central streets. The gendarmes, charging a body of students in the Central Market, injured a woman, whereupon the butchers drew their knives and attacked the captain of the gendarmes. The police fired 3000 rounds in Lavapies' Square. The mob replied with stones and a -hour's fight ensued, when the police retired. Many were killed .and injured.
