THE KING'S VISIT TO PORTUGAL.
ENTHUSIASM OF THE PEOPLE. By Telegraph.— Association.—Copyright. (Received April 6. 10.38 p.m.) Lisbon, April 6. King Edward has everywhere received an ovation. In reply to an address signed by 500 British residents of Lisbon, and another British address at Oporto, he said that he rejoiced that they also participated in the magnificent welcome \ accorded him, which afforded himself and the world a striking proof of the friendship and alliance to which, in the interests of peace and civilisation, it was impossible to attach too high a value or importance. He hoped their friendly relations with one of the greatest colonial powers the world had seen would contribute materially to the development, of the commerce and progress of both countries.
