Parnell Sailing Club pay over Hie nrizes won (hiring Hie past season at tlio Exchange Hotel, Parnell, next Friday evening. The committee or© to lie cordially congratulated upon bringing, matters to such a successful issue, there being a good balance in hand towards next years funds. The great success of th'i year regatta is due to the energy of Air. VV. L>. ttomcrs (the treasurer) and several other members: of committee, who worked throughout well together. Ar The yacht Volunteer, the property of Mr. Thomas Henderson, was sold by auction yesterday by Mr. J. Thornw, and was purchased by -Mr. Alexander Alison for £340. Mr. Alison has got a great bargain m the yacht, as she is in fine order, and well equipped with sails, gear, etc. Ponsonby Hailing Club were again untorlunate in getting their races off last Saturday, tho weather being extremely inclement. The wind blew a hard gale from the south west all the afternoon, raising a very heavy sea. The only race got oft was that for first-class yachts, which resulted in Seagar Brothers' Huia getting home first after a hard race. Owing to tho flagship shifting during a heavy squall, however, no times were taken at the finish. it is quite Ukel> that a race between tie new 24-l'ootors, Speedwell and Miro, will bo arranged, to be sailed before the season closes. Iluia sailed remarkably well in the Ponsonby Sailing Club's race on Saturday afternoon, and fairly walked through all the yachts compel ins in the race. ' The weather was extremely heavy, and as Huia has always been looked upon as a tine weather boat, the way in which she sailed in the strong wind and heavy sea last .Saturday was .something of a surprise to everyone. The de-ign of the Shamrock is a cry novel one. and the delay is parlly due to an important discovery made by Mr. Watson, which has upset many theories as to yacht designing.
