LAWN TENNIS.

The West End Club close their courts for tho season to-day. The prizes won through the season will be presented to the successful competitors as follows:Gemt.'s championship (for trophy presented by the club's president, Mr. C. J. Parr), won by J. Peacock; handicap singles (trophy presented by Mr. A. Littler, vice president), won by A. H. Brabant: ladies' championship (trophy presented by Mr. A. Kohn, vice-president), won by Miss A.. Nicholson ; ladies' handicap singles (trophy presented by Mr. A. Goldio, vice-president), won by Mrs. Gentles; combined doubles (trophy presented by Dr. Hood, vice-president), won by J. Peacock and Mr-. Burton ; combined doubles, second round (trophies presented by Mr. J. Peacock), won by A. Patterson and Miss Butters. The past season has been a very successful one with the club in every respect, and a marked improvement in play has been shown by the younger players especially! wdiilo the financial statement, is all that could be desired, thanks to the energetic treasurer, Mr. C. II- .lone.?. At a meeting of tho committee, held on Tuesday last, Messrs. Patterson and Gentles were appointed a-Ground Committee to superintend operations through the winter in connection with top-dressing, turfing of tho courts, etc.
