Wells (chairman), John ; and Robert Fisher, and W. P. Buckland. Mr. J. Fisher submitted a report on the state of the Cambridge West Cemetery reserve, and made a number of recommendations with ; the object of its improvement, one being the - appointment of Messrs. Berry, Jarrett, ; and * ;-; White as supervisors, who would submit re- L ;', ports annually. The recommendations were '•■■ adopted. The Chairman was authorised to ~, procure, some soil for top-dressing the new ? * bowling green, which, he said, compared to the Auckland greens, was like a ploughed ■* field." ' - - Harvest thanksgiving services were held in St. Andrew's Church, Cambridge, on Sunday, there being large congregations at both services. The church was profusely decorated with suitable offerings. A special effort was made to raise £50 for painting the church and schoolroom, and nearly that sum collected. PATERANGI. THE annual school picnic was held on Friday. ' The weather was not very propitious, which lessened the attendance from the surrounding districts. Before lunch each pupil attending the school was presented with a suitable book by Mr. Ryburn, the chairman of the committee. A long programme of' sports was gone through, and all enjoyed themselves. A MEETING of the Waihi Brass Band was held ' in Power's Central Hotel on Friday night.; Mr. J. M. Wood presiding. The sum of £10 : . was paid in by Mr. Cullen. being the proceeds ; for playing at the Miners' Union sports. * It was proposed by Mr. ,T.C. Grant, seconded by Mr. J. McDermott, " That a donation of £3 be made to the Waihi miners' sorts fund." This was carried. Mr. Grant proposed, and Mr. W. Cullen seconded, " That Mr. J. J. McDonnell be appointed secretary." This was carried. A hearty vote of thanks was ac- . corded Mr. T. C. Grant for his valuable services pro tern. A congratulatory letter and donation of £3 3s was received from Mr. M. G. • Power.
