MAKOHINE VIADUCT.
A BASELESS RUMOUR, [BY TELEGRAPH. — PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Wellington, Tuesday. lv connection with the rumoured defect in lie foundations of one of the Makohine viaduct piers, the Minister for Public Works to-day communicated with the mechanical engineer in charge of the works, and received the following reply: —" The statement is cruelly false. The authors of such false news ought to be severely punished. Everything is perfectly plumb and level, "■so sign of any defect "whatever."
