[by TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Christchxtrch, Monday. On Saturday afternoon a cabman named Howard drove several men to a hotel, and a dispute arose about the payment of the fare. Howard was assaulted, receiving serious injuries to the head. A man named Jas. Gatherer was brought before the Court today on a charge of causing the injuries, but was remanded as Howard was unable to appear. The condition of the injured man is so serious that his depositions have been taken.
