THE FLOODS IN OTAGO.
HEAVY LOSSES. [BT TELEGRAPH. PRESS ASSOCIATION.] DnsiDiN, Monday Passengers by the express train from the South reached town by eight o'clock this evening, having been conveyed across the gaps in the line by coaches, drays, etc. The Taieri River has gone down rapidly, and it is expected that communication will be restored to-morrow. Some Taisri farmers will lose heavily, the heaviest being A. Stewart, 50 head of cattle, and W. McKay several horses (including a valuable entire). A number of others have lost horses and cattle. There is a bare possibility that gome of these may turn up, having swum to places of safety.
