SUDDEN DEATH AT BROOKBY.

Oor Papakura Valley correspondent writes: _I havo to record the news of a very sudden death on the 18th but. in the person of Mr. Clarence Richardson, who has been living for the past four months with Mr. W. S. Smith, of Brookby. The deceased came to the colony for tho benefit of his health, arriving here in January last. He •was in receipt of a pension from the Postal Department, England, hsving been in their service for about 16 years at Southport, Lancashire, ; As he had not received any medical attendance, it was necessary to hold an inquest on the body, which took place at Mr. Smith's house, on the 20th inst., before Mr. D. McLennan, coroner, and a jury, of the following: Messrs. F. M. Alien, P. Aickin, A. T. Collie, A. Dawson, E. Morgan, and G. Stewart. Mr. Allen was chosen foreman. Constable Foreman represented the police. Mr. W. Smith deposed that deceased had been apparently in » better state of health than usual, and rent out at -about half-past eleven a.m. to king some carrots from the garden, and as la had not returned at twelve, he went out to call him to hie dinner, and found him i lying' dead,, with blood on his mouth and h'ard, and a pool of blood near by. Dr. Bjweswas in attendance, and made a postmortem examination, and deposed that he fond the heart healthy, but the lungs in a tad state of. disease, and gave his opinion that death resulted from hemorrhage of the lungs. The jury Drought in a verdict in accordance with the medical evidence. Mr. C, Richardson was buried in the cemetery, Papakura Valley, on the 20th inst. The P«v, 0. R. Hewlett officiated at the grave. He leaves no relations in the colony, the most pathetic incident being that he had one little daughter in England, who it now an orphan, having lost her mother about a year ago from the same complaint.
