CAMBRIDGE BOROUGH CHAMBERS BUSSED.
[BT TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Cambridge, Monday. The Borough Council Chambers at Cambridge were destroyed by fire at five o'clock this morning. Everything was safe when the town clerk, left the building on Sunday evening. He had a fire in the grate, but before leaving took the precaution to cover the fire with ashes. It was blowing hard during the night, and a spark may have escaped from the fire and ignited the building. The fire was discovered too late to save any of the contents, although the safe remains intact. The building and contents were m sured for £150 with the New Zealand Insurance Company.
