ACCIDENTS.

A BOY FOUND DROWNED. Yisterpay morning a boy named Kanick, of Grey-street, reported to Constable Harvey that he had found, between two logs at the timber b:oms at Mechanics' Bay, the body of a boy,who bad apparently been drowned by slipping off the logs, and getting his feet jammed between them. The constable went ova 1 with the lad to the locality indicated, and had the body removed to the morgue. : From inquiries made it appears that the boy was Frank Sheeran, son of Mr. -Michael Sheeran, bootmaker, GreyBtreet. .Young' Sheeran and a boy named Simmons his companion, had been on Saturday afternoon at the public baths, and had a. swim. They went down Queen-street, where, they separated, about half-past four. Sheeran wanted Simmons to have another swim, bit the latter declined. That was the last seen of Sheeran alive. It is supposed be went to have a bathe in Mechanics' /Bay. The body was found fully dressed. He had 1 apparently gone along the logs at the timber booms, had fallen off one, and had got his feet pinned down by a log. An inquest will be held by Dr..McArthur, coroner, at Gleeson's Hotel, at nine o'clock this morning.

i •: TRAP ACCIDENT. The well- known sharebroker, Mr. John Mowbray, met with a serious accident while driving in his trap on Saturday down Queenstreet. His conveyance came into collision with two other traps, and Mr. Mowbray was thrown out heavily on to the roadway. He was much bruised and shaken, and also got cut on the back of his neck. Mr. Mowbray was picked up in an unconscious condition, and taken into the shop of Mr. Edson, chemist, where Dr. Marsack attended to him. Two of Mr. Mowbray's sons were in the trap with him at the time, but fortunately escaped unhurt. 'Mr. Mowbray regained consciousness shortly afterwards, and. was taken home. He is now reported as progressing favourably.

. GUN ACCIDENTS. [by telegraph.— ASSOCIATION.! CiißiSTcncEcit, Saturday. There was quite a chapter of accidents here yesterday. Two young men Herbert Wenaelboum" and Alfred Lanyon —were rabbit shooting near Lyttelton. The latter was loading a gun when the cartridge exploded," the charge striking the former, who was Byds away, shattering his left leg, and causing great loss of blood. Lanyon was removed ,to the hospital, where he died last night. : Edward Ball was out shooting at Yaldhurst. when his gun accidentally went off, the charge passing through his left arm, which was amputated in the hospital. Another man, Henry Tasker, shooting in the Waimakariri River bed, was accidentally shot in the right leg, and was removed to the hospital.
