FATAL MINING ACCIDENT.
[BY TELEGRAM.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.] P.VEROA, Saturday., A man named John McDonald was killed at Karangahake yesterday, whilst trucking quartz from the Crown mine. It appears that several trucks were, being taken along, and McDonald,who was standing on the foremost truck, slipped off, and fell across the rails, and the next two trucks passed over his body. He was immediately assisted by bis'nephew. S. Dickey, and conveyed tc Ryan's Hotel, where he died an hour later. Dr. Smith was wired for from Paeroa, and was quickly in attendance, but could do nothing. Deceased was a married man, with one child, and was 32 years of age. He was a brother of Mrs Nat. Dickey, of Paeroa. An inquest was held at Karangahake to-day by Mr. Forrest, coroner, and a verdict of "Accidental deatli" was returned.
