THE MAYORALTY.

We understand that His Worship tho Mayor was interviewed yesterday by a deputation of ratepayers, who asked him to stand for a second term. Mi. Goldio said that he would" consent to stand for a second term if he were satisfied that there was a general wish on the part of the ratepayers that he should do so. A requisition is now being signed requesting Mr. Goldie to act for a second term. Mr. Goldie has done good work sinoo he has been in office, and there have been so many municipal matters of importance initiated lately that it would be very awkward to make any change at present. Next year will set 'lie commencement of actual operations ii

connection with tho expenditure of the new loan, and it will be a year of much importance in city affairs. Wo have no doubt that the requisition to Mr. Goldie will be largely signed.
