[Nt TELEGRAM.PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Wellington, Thursday. Tire collection of returns under the Agricultural and Pastoral Statistics Act, 1895, is to be made between November 15 and December 12.
Regulations are gazetted directing that special postage duo stamps are to bo issued for the collection of unpaid or insuf-ficiently-paid postage, on all classes of cor-, respondence in lieu of dockets, as at present used. The Kumara Rifle Volunteers have been disbanded. The rainfall at the principal centres during September was: Auckland, 1.31 in; Wellington, 3.62 Christchurch, 1.99 Dunedin, 2.20. Messrs W.Alison (Auckland), L. J. Bagnail (Turua), J. Fawcus (Auckland), and W. H. Lucas (Thames) have been gazetted members, and the Rev. A. H. Collins (Auckland) chairman of the Board of Conciliation for the Northern Industrial District. Edwin Townshend is appointed Government dairy instructor, inspector, and grader. Captain Smith's appointment as staff officer to Colonel P. Penton, 'during Major Haddocks' absence in South Africa, is gazetted.
