AUCKLAND WEEKLY NEWS.

INTERESTING ILLUSTRATIONS.

SOUTH AFRICAN VIEWS. Tins week's number of the Auckland Weekly News is again an exceptionally interesting one, and the illustrations comprise a number of subjects that will attract the greatest attention at the present moment. There is a striking view of a " commando" at Johannesburg, she • ing the manner in which the Boers assemble for war, and also a picture of the Rustenburg burghers under arms. A picture is given of the entrance to the Transvaal by the Laing's Nek Pass, showing Majuba Hill and the scene of Sir George Colley's repulse by the Boers in 1881. A fine large group of old colonists appears in connection with the reunion of early settlers held in Auckland last week. A splendid half-page picture is given of the cyclists attending the Auckland Cycling Club's fancy dress parade last Saturday. In addition there are a number of views illustrating the production of "Dorothy" by the Auckland Amateur Opera Club, the opening of the West End Rowing Club's season, and other subjects of general interest. The News is now on sale, and may be obtained of all runners and newsagents.
