[BY TKIiEORiPH.-—PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Wellington, Sunday. A middle-aoed man named William B. Elphiston, formerly bank managor at Amberloy, North Canterbury,died suddenly during tho night. The causo of death is believed to be hearb disease. Dunedin, Sunday. Tho much-decomposed body of a man was found on Gatlowsy'a Station, noar Blackwoll's claim. The body has not been identified. Wanganoi, Saturday. A meeting of competitors in the Draughts Championship Tournament) was held on Thursday night, when all players, excopb Henderson, of Auckland, and Davy, of New Plymouth, wore present. The Governor was unanimously elected first president of the Congress. Mr. H. B. Williamson was elected secretary. The Tournamenb was opened to-day by the Mayor, who made the firsb move, 11 to 15, for Boreham. Some remarkably fine games havo boon played, thab between Boreham and Montgomery being exceptionally brilliant.
