THE POLO TOURNAMENT.

[Br TJjLEORAPH.—PRI39 ASSOCIATION.] Palmkbston North, Thursday. Fine weather prevailed for the second day's play of the New Zealand Polo Tournament, and there was a large attendance of spectators. Christchdrch v. Hawke's Bay.—Teams: Chrietchurch, A. E. G. Rhodes, A. Clark, R. H. Rhodes, and A. L. Lane; Hawko's Bay, A. H. Russell, T. Crosse, C. D. Kennedy, and J. B. Chambers. The play in this match wa9 nob of an interesting character, on account of its one-sidednesa. Chrißtchurch had all the best of the play throughout, scoring no lesss than 15 goals. They were well mounted, playo 1 with good combination, and did some fine hitting. Hawke's Bay showed want of combination, and were at times very weak in their play. Crosse and Chambers played very good individual games. Tho result was: Christchurch, 15 ; Hawke's Bay, 3. Manawatu v. Rangitikei Teams: Manawatu, P. E. Mcßao, A. S. Baker, F. P. Snow, and W. Lloyd; Rangit.ikoi 11., H. Wilson, E. Keiller, K. Dalrymple, and W. A. Keiller. This match proved the best so far of the tournament, the play being exceptionally fast and exciting, Manawatu, mainly through the fine hitting of Lloyd, established a substantial load in the first part, but Rangitikei 11., playing with great dash, mado things particularly lively for their opponents towards the finish, oclipsing the efforts of their senior team on the previous day. Some vory fine runs and grand strokes were made by players on both sides, and tho excitement was intense towards the end, as Rangitikei placod three successive goals, and decreasod their opponents' lead in tho last epell. They were within two of Manawatu's score, but tho latter continued to retain their position, and won the match, which resulted: Manawatu, 7; Rangitikei 11., 5.

The contest for the junior cup commences to-morrow.
