CAMBRIDGE ATHLETIC SPORTS.

Cambridge, Wednesday. Tub Cambridge Athletic Club held their annual sports oil St. Patrick's Day, in the Government Paddock, The attendance was quite up to the average of previous years. There was a large number of ladies present, and the proceedings were also graced by the presence of the local clergy, liverything possible had been dono by the committee to ensure success, and the president (Mr. Bach), who has taken the management of the sports for a number of years, must be gratified by the results. The Cambridge Baud rendered numerous selections during the afternoon, and Captain Fisher, the tatooed man, did good business. The following are the results of some of the principal events

100 yds Amateur: M. Wells, 1; J. E. Bell, 2; li. Walker, 3. This was one of the most interesting events on the programme. There were 14 starters, and the finishes in all three heats were close. The time in the final heat was 10s., the first and second heats being respectively 113-ss. and 102 ss. lOOvds (Open): M. Roberts, 1; W. Cawley,'J; J. MeKernan, 3. The time of the several heats was 10i., 92 55., and final 10s, The win was a very popular one. Running High Jump: R. Hannon, sft 4in, 1; H. Set by 2. One and a-half Mile Bicycle Handicap: W. 11. Mitchell, 50yds, 1; W. 11. Cooke, scratch, 2; J. H. Tidd, Byds, 3. There were seven starters, mid a good race resulted, though Mitchell, who got too much start from Cooke, won rather easily. Half - Mile Handicap: A. McKiuuon, 40yds, 1; J. Smith, 6yds, 2. Three Mile Bicycle Handicap; W. Dey, 1; J. A. Young, 2; W. H. Mitchell, 3. Cooke (Auckland) wag handicapped out of this race, but he made a game attempt to overhaul his competitors. 150 yds Hurdle Race: H. G. Absolum, syds, 1; J. Stewart, Byds, 2; D. S. Capper, syds, 3.

4-lOyds Amateur Handicap: J. E. Bell, 25yds, 1; J. Cowling, scratch, 2; R. Walker, 20yds, 3. A really grand race, Cowling running in his be*t. form, and beating the Te Awamutu crack who was also scratch. Time, s,'is

440 yds Handicap, open F. C. Kenny, 4:lyds, 1; W. K. Wilson, 35yds, 2; M. Roberts, syds, 3. Eleven started for this event. The pace was very warm all through' Time, 51s.

One-mile Handicap : J. Smith, scratch, 1; W. Livingstone, 75yds, 2; F. Blackniau, 30yds, 3.
