. » PROPOSAL BY AUSTRALIAN NATIVES. Melbourne, January 24. The Intercolonial Conference of the Australian. Natives' Association has affirmed the desirability of a Federal Legislature, consisting of the GovernorGeneral and two Houses, the members of. one House to be elected by the Legislatures, and of the other by the people of the various colonies, each colony to be represented equally in one House at least. An amendment, " That the Governor-General be selected by the Crown," was withdrawn.
