THE NEW FIND AT HIKUTAIA. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENTS.] Paeroa, Wednesday evening. The new find at liikutaia is exciting much interest here. Tnere is a good show in tinstone, and testa by tiro assay have turned out remarkably well. Opinion must, how ever, be suspended pending further developments.

Saxon. mine managor reports that the drive on the reef at No. 3 level has been advanced 12 feet, and » atopo carried along hillward from the rise 14 feet during the. past week. The reef is about 2 foet thick, and gold is seen when the is broken down. Another parcel will be crushed from here as soon as the trial from No. 4 is cieancii up. At N0.4 level the drive has been extanded 15 feet in rather tight but excellent -sandstone. The reef is nearly 2 feet in thickness, and colours of gold are seen in it. The trial from this portion of the mine is shaping for about lodwts to tho lode. The third stope is up to the break, and the fourth stopo 12 feet into the block between the two breaks, —the reef, (J inches thick, showing gold freely. It was from this stope the 20ibs picked stone, wired on the 20th instant, came. The fifth stope is up to first break. Tho sixth stopo is 24 feet in from winze,— tho reef, 18 inches in thickness, showing gold occasionally. A seventh stope hag been started ; the reef in which is 2 feet thick, and shows gold. Seaward of winze the sixth stopo is 24 feet in from winze,—the reef 8 inches thick, and gold is seen when breaking down. There is on hand at the battery 5470zs lOdwta amalgam, and IGoza retorted gold at the bank.

[BY TELEGRAPH. PRESS ASSOCIATION.] In VERCAKGILL, Wednesday. A private test of stone from the South Riverton reef was made hero to-day. The results were highly satisfactory ; and, as the stone was taken from the outcrop, it ia considered that when the reef is worked properly it mast prove very valuable.
