AUCKLAND ANNUAL REGATTA.
» A well-attended meeting of the committee of the Auckland Regatta Club was held last evening in the club-room at the Waitemata Hotel. At this meeting a large amount of detail work was transacted in connection with the forthcoming regatta, on the 29tb instant. Canvassers were appointed and districts allotted, and it was resolved that an immediate start should be made towards the raising of funds towards the regatta. We have already drawn public attention to the claims of the club to the liberal consideration of the public, and it is to be hoped that the response will be snch as to encourage the gentlemen who havo undertaken the arduous duties of carrying out our annual regatta this year. A moat liberal and attractive programme has been issued, and so far there are good prospects that the entries will be numerous, and the competition good. Thia will be especially so in tbe champion and club whaleboat races, and in the Naval cutter event. For tbe two former events crews are now in active training, and each of the clubs intending to sport their colours on Regatta Day feel sanguine of success-
