LONDON WOOL SALES.
[recter's tklegram.l London, December 16. The wool sales closed to-day. During the series 100,000 bales were sold, and 32,000 held over. The various descriptions experienced the following decline:—The prices of Australian greasy were lid per lb lower ; Australian scoured, 3d lower; Port and Sydney, fine to finest greasy and scoured wools, lower; inferior qualities, 3£d lower, greasy crossbred, about Id lower ; scoured crossbred, 2d to 2£d lower. The first series of the next year's sales will open on January 25. It is probable that the quantity to be offered will be 210,000 bales. A Press Association message, dated London, December 16, says :—The wool sales closed to-day without prices rallying. 125,000 bales were catalogued, and 34,000 were withdrawn, inclusive of 15,000 which had not been offered. Good greasy merino is Id ; inferior, 2d; scoured, 2d and 3d ; and crossbceds Id below the September closing rates. The next of the series of sales will be opened on January 25.
