ACCLIMATISA TION SOCIETY.

The monthly meeting of the Acclimatisation Society was held yesterday afternoon. Present: Messrs. R. Barstow (Chairman), T. M. Burtt, A. Bull, and T. B. Hill.

Breach or Animals Protection Act. — A letter was received from Inspector Thorneon, breaches of the Animals Protection Act, giving particulars of three convictions for against persons who had been in pursuit of game in Wecke's Island, Manukau Harbour. Water Supply. — The Seoretary announced that he had written to tho City Conncil in regard to the free supply of water to the Domain fish-ponds, and had received an answer to the effect that the question was under the consideration of the Waterworks Committee.

Introduction of Fish Ota.—A letter was received from the Government, forwarding the correspondence with the AgentGeneral, relative to the introduction of the ova of salmon and other tish from England, and inquiring if the society would take charge of any. Oα the motion of Mr. Bull, it was resolved to inform the Government that, while they appreciated the efforts of the Government for the introduction of ova, they thought the supply ought to be sent to the rivers in the South Island, which have a more suitable temperature than those in this part of the country. Protection or TEOur.—A letter was received from the Colonial Secretary's Office, drawing attention to the Gazette notice authorising the society to inflict a penalty for breach of the regulations for the protection of trout. It was resolved to give notice by advertisement of the substance of the regulations appearing in the Gazette.

Fiji Ckabs.—Mr. Burtt, who bad been making inquiries about the introduction of Fiji craba of the edible class, was authorised to instruct Mr. Ford, of Fiji, to forward a supply. E-j *_ .-.-• --
